AI for Accounting

AI for Accounting is a one-day hands-on workshop for accountants and finance teams, covering how to read invoices, summarise expenses, chase payments and draft reports using ChatGPT and Excel. Millennium Academy runs it in Sharjah, live online or in-house.

Use ChatGPT and Excel together to read invoices faster, summarise expenses, chase payments and draft VAT-related paperwork — without changing your existing accounting software.

What you'll do

Inside the session

We show the real agenda up front — no vague 'AI fundamentals' filler.

Reading and extracting from invoices

Turn a stack of invoices or receipts into a clean, structured summary — line items, totals, dates — ready to paste into Excel.

Expense summaries that anyone can read

Convert a messy expense export into a short, accurate write-up a manager or client can understand in one read.

Drafting payment-chasing correspondence

Firm-but-professional reminder emails for overdue invoices, at three levels of tone depending on how overdue the payment is.

Report drafting and VAT-related paperwork prep

Use AI to produce a first draft of a monthly report or VAT filing support document, which you then check and finalise — never submit unchecked.

Tools you'll use

What you need — and what's optional

We're upfront about the tool stack so you know exactly what to have ready.

Must-have

  • ChatGPT — OpenAI's assistant, used here for drafting, rewriting and structured analysis from plain-language instructions.
  • Excel — Microsoft's spreadsheet, used for the hands-on data exercises.

Optional / good to have

  • OCR tools — Optical character recognition — software that reads text off scanned invoices, receipts and PDFs so the figures can be worked with as data rather than retyped.
  • Zoho Books or QuickBooks AI features — The AI features built into two common accounting packages, covering automatic transaction categorisation and document capture.
What you walk out with

Real, usable takeaways

  • A reusable prompt for turning a photographed or scanned invoice into structured data.

  • Three ready-to-adapt payment-reminder email templates.

  • A checklist for what to verify before any AI-drafted figure or document goes out.

Who this is for

Is this workshop right for you?

Built for people who recognise themselves below.

Accountants and bookkeepers spending real time on manual data entry and reconciliation.

Finance teams who chase payments and produce recurring reports every month.

Anyone handling VAT-related paperwork prep who wants a faster first draft, not a replacement for review.

Why it matters

What you gain from this workshop

Built around your actual software

No new platform to learn — this works alongside Excel and whatever accounting software your team already uses.

Speed on the repetitive parts only

AI drafts the summary, the email, the first pass — your judgement still signs off every number and every send.

Directly useful the same afternoon

Every exercise uses realistic invoices, expense sheets and correspondence — not toy examples.

FAQ

AI for Accounting — your questions answered

No — it sits alongside it. You'll leave with prompts and workflows that speed up the manual, repetitive parts of the job, not a new system to migrate to.

It can be, if you set it up properly, and we teach that. On free and personal ChatGPT plans your chats may be used to train models unless you turn off "Improve the model for everyone" in Data Controls. ChatGPT's business and enterprise plans don't train on your data by default. Even then, client names, bank details and staff personal data shouldn't go into a general AI tool without your firm's approval. That also keeps you on the right side of the UAE's personal data law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021). In the session we practise on anonymised or sample data, so nothing sensitive leaves the room.

No prior AI experience is needed — we start from an account you can set up in the room if you don't already have one.

Yes — this works well as in-house training for a full finance or accounts team. Use the corporate training enquiry form to tell us your team size and we'll tailor the session.
