Spoken English Course in the UAE — Level 1
Spoken English Level 1 is a 24-hour beginner course taught over up to two months at Millennium Academy in Sharjah or live online. It covers all 16 units of the Level 1 syllabus, with class time given to conversation and the grammar that supports it rather than workbook drills.
Level 1 of our three-level Spoken English pathway. In 24 hours across up to two months, you'll work through all 16 units of our Level 1 syllabus — but stripped down to what actually gets you talking: real conversation practice, the grammar and vocabulary that support it, and enough listening to keep up with a natural exchange. Workbook-style pronunciation drills, reading passages and writing tasks are set aside for Levels 2 and 3, so every one of your 24 hours goes into speaking.

Part 1 — Core Sentence Foundations
- Unit 1Starting real conversations from day one — introducing yourself and greeting people with genuine confidence, built on the verb 'to be' and core possessive words like my, your, his and her
- Unit 2Describing the objects and places around you with precision, using articles, plurals and prepositions of place to build accurate, natural sentences
- Unit 3Talking about where you and others are from, and describing people clearly, using the verb 'to be' in every form — statements, negatives and questions
- Unit 4Describing appearance, clothing and the world around you, using possessives, the present continuous and correct adjective order
Part 2 — Everyday Actions and Routines
- Unit 5Talking about time and what's happening right now, using time expressions and the present continuous to describe ongoing activities
- Unit 6Describing your daily and weekly routines with real fluency, using the simple present with regular and irregular verbs
- Unit 7Talking about homes and everyday surroundings with confidence, using 'there is / there are' to describe what exists and what doesn't
- Unit 8Discussing work and forming your own opinions in English, using simple present questions with 'do' and 'does'
Part 3 — Opinions, Abilities and Plans
- Unit 9Talking about habits and how often you do things with real nuance, using count/noncount nouns and adverbs of frequency
- Unit 10Talking about your abilities and interests, using 'can' to express what you're able to do
- Unit 11Making plans and talking about what's coming up, using 'be going to' to describe future intentions
- Unit 12Describing how you feel and giving simple, useful advice, using key expressions with 'have' and 'feel', plus imperatives
Part 4 — Past Experiences and Real-World Interactions
- Unit 13Giving and understanding directions with real clarity, using prepositions of place and imperatives to guide someone confidently
- Unit 14Talking about your recent past, using the simple past with regular and irregular verbs
- Unit 15Sharing your personal history and memories, using the past of 'to be' and past-tense questions
- Unit 16Making, accepting and declining invitations like a natural English speaker, using pronouns, prepositional phrases and everyday polite expressions
How you get certified
This is Level 1 of a three-level spoken-fluency pathway, not an examination-board qualification. If you need an internationally certified score for university admission, migration or a work visa, see our IELTS Preparation course instead — many students complete Levels 1 and 2 here first, then move on to IELTS once they're speaking comfortably.

It's all 16 units of our Level 1 syllabus — which is exactly why we call this Level 1. Levels 2 and 3 continue with more advanced material, going further into conversation, pronunciation, reading and writing.
Our Level 1 syllabus includes real pronunciation drills, reading passages and writing tasks for every unit, and they're valuable — but for a true beginner, the fastest route to actually speaking is spending class time speaking. Level 1 keeps just enough listening to follow a real conversation and folds grammar and vocabulary into speaking practice, then hands the deeper pronunciation, reading and writing work to Levels 2 and 3, once you already have a conversational base to build on.
No. Level 1 is built for complete beginners and false beginners. We start every student with a free level-assessment call so the course is pitched right from lesson one.
No — they solve different problems. Spoken English builds everyday conversational ability from the ground up. IELTS Preparation trains you specifically for the IELTS exam and a target band score, and assumes a higher starting level. Many students complete our Spoken English levels first, then move to IELTS once they need the certified score.
